Hotel JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La (Georgetown, Malaysia)

The hotel is within walking distance to the various attractions in the area. The shopping mall and eateries are just a few steps away.

The breakfast is adequate at the hotel. There is fresh, dark bread and a variety of cheeses amongst other things. The menu has a decent variety of choices.

A free shuttle service is available to take you to various properties. The hotel is also near the main public bus terminal.

The hotel is not really modern at all. The furniture is passe, the design is old, the bathroom needs updating, it's not an inspiring décor. It is more like the 70s with the old clunkier TVs. The bathroom has mold, insulting smells can be found around the facility, and light fixtures are hanging off the wall.

The hotel staff are not very accommodating. Any issues you have to tackle them yourself and they don't want to take responsibility for any mistakes they make either. If there is a mix-up with your reservation, they will have you here, there, and everywhere! Staff are simply not very welcoming.

If you are looking for something posh, you are not going to get it. However, if the basics will do then this hotel might interest you. Nonetheless, it does not seem to be worth the money you pay.
