About Sandbach Crosses

In the heart of the small Cheshire market town of Sandbach, stand two ornately carved stone crosses which are believed to date to the 9th Century. The crosses have had a tough past, being taken down, broken up and moved to other locations before finally returning to Sandbach in 1816. The site is a Grade 1 listed monument and is significant because it indicates that the town was a significant centre of early sculpture.
The crosses are accessible at all times and no fee is charged to see them.
