Negative Reviews

Rooms below standard and cleanliness is questionable.

Old, ripped and stained carpet from the reception area leads to a dirty lift and up to mostly uncleaned rooms that smell, according to a majority of guests. Many complained the rooms look cheap and shabby and are in need of updating. Numerous items in the room are broken, especially the shower heads or other plumbing. Although the Stuart is touted as a non-smoking hotel, many guests have reported that their rooms, or at least their bathroom, allegedly smelled like smoke. Overflowing bins both in the car park and allegedly inside the hotel meant rats are regularly seen by guests. Dead flies have also been spotted, allegedly including in the restaurant. According to some previous guests, the fire exit on the bottom floor is also blocked.

Rude, disinterested staff contribute to an unsafe feeling.

With the exception of one receptionist, the management and staff at this hotel are allegedly grumpy, rude and all around unhelpful. Many guests have remarked that the manager and another staff member often sit on the reception couch, watching movies on their phone and smoking in the ‘non-smoking’ hotel while ignoring their guests. A number of guests have also reported feeling unsafe staying there with the impression that there have been alleged prostitutes and drug dealers on premises frequently.

Central climate control and noisy.

The air conditioning and the heat are centrally controlled by the reception area, resulting in many guests reporting either freezing or boiling without the option of controlling the temperature in their own rooms. The metal windows are not double glazed and cannot be opened, meaning guests can hear the traffic and people outside the hotel at all hours.
