Positive Reviews

Positive sentiment about value for money

Guests were keen on the usually competitive nightly rates at this place. It was frequently mentioned in their reviews that because the hotel’s facilities and service were of a decent standard they got a reasonable amount of bang for their buck.

City centre location in heritage area

Those wishing to explore the World Heritage Site core of George Town were in luck at this property for it was already within the area designated by UNESCO. Not only was it easy for reviewers to walk to landmarks and historic sites from this hotel’s location, but also it put them close to nightlife, street food and shopping options in the vicinity.

Rooms did the basics well

More often than not, guests described the rooms here as sufficiently clean and comfortable for their needs. Indeed, many reviewers noted that while the rooms were simple they came with all the essentials needed for a city break on a tight budget.

Negative Reviews

Lukewarm response to parking arrangements

On the whole, drivers were pleased to be able to use the free parking at this hotel. However, there were limited spaces so latecomers were often forced to scour the surrounding streets for alternatives, which proved inconvenient.

Some rooms had shortcomings

Some of the rooms here were reportedly quite small, while others reportedly received little natural light due to limited numbers of windows. It was further claimed by guests that there were cramped bathrooms.

Noise issues

It was mentioned by light sleepers that certain rooms facing the main street were exposed to occasional traffic noise and noise from nearby nightspots that caused them a nuisance. Soundproofing between the rooms could also have done with a boost, light sleepers commented.
