About The Kentish Hotel

The historic Kentish Hotel is situated at the base of the Awhitu Peninsula. The Kentish Hotel was built in 1851 by Edward Constable who emigrated from Maidstone, Kent. He applied for a special license for the sale and supply of alcohol & license No 47 was granted to him in 10.1.1853. That special licence still continues today and the hotel lays claim to the longest continuous liquor-licensed hotel in NZ. Throughout its long history The Kentish Hotel has been the heart of Waiuku lifesince it was built. The hotel occupies a central location in Waiuku across the road from the popular Tamakae Reserve that serves as a base for the Waiuku Museum and local attractions, the light house winery & beaches. This Hotel is a Heritage Hotel, toilets & showers are shared facilities, all rooms have tea/coffee making facilities,flat screen TV and free bottled water. As the hotel is an historic hotel there is no insulation, we do have live entertainment Friday and Saturday nights and can get a little noisy, so ear plugs are provided if required. We are located 50 minutes south of the CBD and 40 minutes from the airport. There is a public bus service from Pukeohoe which connects with the trains to us.
