The Settlement hotel in Malacca, Malaysia is more suitable for guests travelling by car as it is slightly away from central Malacca which is a heritage area. But guests like that it is close to the Portuguese Settlement and the fact that the hotel is by itself is a tourist attraction with paintings of historical significance. Guests say they liked spending time looking at all the art work and taking pictures.
Guests say that the staff at the hotel is super friendly. The staff accommodates guests' late arrival and makes sure they are supplied with everything they want. Right from the guest relation officer to the waiter and chef, the staff members exude warmth and pay personalised attention to guests. Guests with kids say that they loved the dipping pool, which they thought is a good idea.
Many guests say they love the spacious rooms with the European touch. Thoughtful gestures like cakes and decorated beds are provided for guests' birthdays which win their appreciation. Guests say that they also love the bathrooms and the bathtubs.
Some guests did not like having to travel about 20 minutes to the hotel every time they visited the town centre. Guests without cars have to travel in cabs and pay high fares.
Many guests did not enjoy the breakfast at the hotel, which they say lacked variety and tasted average. The food runs out quickly as well and guests have to wait a long time till the items are replenished.
The night staff at the reception at times is not present at the desk and guests who drove up say that they had to wait for a long time to get the parking open.
