A towering four star hotel in the Newtown district of Singapore, Hotel Royal is just a short five minute bus ride from the popular Orchard Road shopping area.
Twin, double and family rooms are available here, and each come equipped with air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, safety deposit box, flatscreen TV with free movies, telephone, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.
Reception is open around the clock, where car rentals and attraction tickets can be organised. There is also a babysitting and a laundry service, plus free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the premises.
Enjoy evening dinner at the Jade Room restaurant, which specialises in seafood and Chinese cuisine, and grab a coffee or snack in the Trishaw Coffeehouse.
The historic Fort Canning Park is a short ten minute drive from Hotel Royal, and the Asian Civilisations Museum is just 12 minutes’ drive away.
Royal is in the Newtown area of Singapore, but it is only five minutes on the bus to the famous shopping district of Orchard Road. Stay here and you have the city centre nearby without having to pay a city centre room rate.
Lovely staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Whether you need help with your luggage or need some assistance in your room, the people working here are always happy to help. Just ask any of the approachable staff members if you have a request.
Great internet connection from the free Wi-Fi.
It's not so often that you hear of a hotel providing outstanding free Wi-Fi, but at this hotel it's true. You can connect to the internet and have no problems streaming videos or playing online games.
More variety would make the breakfast better.
The options at breakfast are too few and a bit bland, so you will probably find a much better morning meal in a restaurant outside of this hotel. Hopefully management will improve the breakfast soon.
The rooms need to be kept cleaner.
Housekeeping is either overworked or not doing their job properly here, because often the rooms are still a bit dirty when you check in. If you arrive and find your room is dirty bring it straight up with reception and request to be moved.
An old hotel that has certainly seen better days.
Royal is falling behind the times and struggling to keep up with other more modern hotels in Singapore. Some essential maintenance and renovation work is necessary for this hotel to stay attractive.
